The Showplace, marked by the red star on the map at left, is the venue for many of Bob & Sallie Connelly's events.

To get there, take I81 or NY Rte 17 to exit 4S, NY Rte 7S/NY Rte 363W. Turn right at the first light onto Frederick St, then left at the light onto Chenango St, which forks right into West State St. Go one block to the Binghamton Plaza, located left of the Big K Kmart. Lecture: Appraising Christmas Ornamments
Bob Connelly will deliver the Appraisers Association of America (AAA) December lecture on Monday, December 8, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at The National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South, New York, NY. Military, Photographs & Ephemera Auction
Sunday, December 7, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. (9:00 a.m. preview) at the Showplace. Bob & Sallie Connelly will be auctioning 19th century firearms, swords, medals, and military items. Also: 19th & 20th century photographs, including horse drawn fire trucks and early motorized fire trucks, early 20th century Hawaii, and military photos, Civil War through 1930's plus breweriana including a Joseph Laurer Brewery Co. 1911 Season's Greetings poster.

Guest Speaker
Bob Connelly will be the guest speaker at the December Meeting of the Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. Bob will talk about The Many Faces of Santa Claus. The meeting, which will be held at Rudy's Beau Rivage on the Hudson (Telephone: 914-693-3192), 19 Livingston Ave, Dobbs Ferry, NY, is open to the public with dinner (order off the menu) at $24. Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art Auction
Lot 186: Stoi V (1986) by Alexander Lieberman, acrylic on wood. In connection with a renovation and expansion project that will double its size, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Ct has decided to de-acquisition select items in its permanent art collection. Bob & Sallie Connelly will sell these items in an auction scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2003 at 12:00 noon at the Showplace in Binghamton, following a 10:00 a.m. preview that day.

Aldrich Auction Previews.  You are invited to an advance preview on Saturday, October 25, 2003 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Admission, which includes wine and cheese, and a listing of the art to be auctioned, is $15, with the proceeds going to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Binghamton. Open previews will be held from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2003 and from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, Sunday, November 2, and Friday, November 7, 2003.

Kane Manor Auction Booklet
A post-sale auction listing is available for $5. It includes the watercolors, paintings, manuscripts, swords, some of the books, furnishings, and accessories, etc. sold at the Kane Manor Auction (see below). The booklet lists the inventoried items with prices realized, and highlights some of the other items. To order your copy, (a) call our office and charge it, or (b) send a check to our office along with your name, address and email address, or (c) or order it by using PayPal. Auction of Historic House & Contents at Kane, PA
On Saturday, September 27, 2003 Bob & Sallie Connelly will auction the real estate and contents of Kane Manor Inn in Kane, PA. Historic Kane Manor A national historic landmark, the present Manor replaced the original, destroyed by fire in 1896. Most of the contents are from the original built during the Civil War and include watercolors depicting Elisha Kent Kane's famous artic expeditons. Our Kane Manor Auction Advertisement describes the property and contents in detail, including many photos, and provides times, terms, and directions.

The auction will be conducted by Robert J. Connelly, License No. AU-002261-E, in cooperation with James Corcoran, who is cataloging the fine arts contents. Jim's website has detailed images of the watercolors and several antique swords.

P.S. Please print the Absentee and Phone Bid Form and fax or call in the information by 6:00 p.m. (EST) Thursday, September 25, 2003. Because cellular reception at Kane Manor is unreliable, phone bidders should place an absentee bid as a backup.

P.P.S. Too late to catalog. At the real estate open house on Sunday, September 21, 2003, a previously undocumented room was found. In it were additional items, including a Civil War era leather pouch (five inches square when folded; doe skin interior) showing General and the Pennsylvania keystone logo, an early photograph of Thomas Kane in civilian dress, and a few watercolors.

Deposit NY Lumber Jack Festival Bob & Sallie Connelly will hold a free Appraisal Clinic for Antiques, Collectibles, and Decorative Arts on Saturday, July 19, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as part of 4-day 28th annual Lumberjack Festival and community fund-raiser to be held in Fireman's Park at Deposit, NY 13754. To get to the Festival, take NY Rte 17 to Deposit (exits 81-83) and follow the signs to the center of town. Parking is free. Bob & Sallie Connelly will offer a Car, Antiques and Collectibles Appraisal Clinic on Sunday, July 13, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Kiwanis Club 16th annual Klassic Car Show and Flea Market in DeWitt, NY 13214. Admission to the one-day Show, which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. is $4.00; there is a nominal fee for appraisals.
