Bob & Sallie Connelly will auction over 3500 pieces of jewelry, watches and vintage clothing at The Showplace on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at 10:00 a.m., with a preview at 9:00 a.m. Included in the jewelry are diamond, ruby, emerald and opal rings, cameos, and stickpins. Costume jewelry includes bakelite, lucite, and catlin from makers such as Eisenberg and Tifari.
Southwest sterling and Mexican jewelry includes many signed Navajo cuff bracelets from Begay, Tahe, L. Morgan and more. Many items available in tray lots. Also included are pocket, fob and case watches, and vintage clothing such as bonnets, dresses, Christening gowns, Indian beaded costumes, and accessories. Art Walk Exhibit and Sale:
A Thornton W. "Ted" Whipple Retrospective

will hold a special retrospective exhibit and sale of watercolors on paper by Thornton W. "Ted" Whipple on Friday, December 2, 2005 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Celebrate the season. Come meet Ted and his family, be entertained by Susan Hurwitz playing holiday music on the keyboard, and enjoy special holiday fare. The exhibit and sale of Ted Whipple's watercolors will continue through December 30, weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and at other times by appointment (Telephone: 607-722-9593).
A native of Binghamton, Thornton W. "Ted" Whipple began painting in 1963, at the age of 50. A member, and past President, of The Artists Guild, Ted studied principally with Cecil Popolo at the Roberson Center for the Arts & Science, and with Revington Arthur at the Chautauqa Institute. He also belongs to the International Society of Artists and other local artist's societies, is active in community affairs, and in 2004 was honored with the Broome County Heart of the Arts Award (photo left).
Painting in transparent watercolor both locally and abroad, Ted prefers landscapes, street scenes and seasonal paintings, often of the Southern Tier. For years, his ARTVAN license plate was a familiar sight on area roads. Ted's paintings are widely represented in corporate and institutional collections including those of the Bank of New York, Century 21 Realtors, Columbia Gas & Electric, General Electric, IBM Corporation, Lourdes Hospital, Prudential Bache and Universal Instruments Corporation, among many. Paintings by Coreen Steinbach
As part of Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk the Connelly Gallery at 668 Chenango St, Binghamton, NY 13901-2711 will hold a special exhibit and sale of recent acrylic paintings by Coreen Steinbach on Friday, November 4, 2005 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with
musical entertainment provided by members of the Binghamton Community Orchestra sponsored by the Binghamton Art Musicians (BAM). The exhibit and sale of Ms. Steinbach's acrylic on canvas paintings will continue through November 25, weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and at other times by appointment (Telephone: 607-722-9593).
Coreen Steinbach is an award-winning artist and illustrator -- and nationally ranked masters runner -- whose children's book with writer Ray Hoese, My Dad is an Ironman, was published in October 2004.
Ms. Steinbach, who has created art for many national sporting events, including the Pittsburgh Great Race and the Buffalo Marathon, works extensively in the area of sports art, but is also known for family and corporate portraiture, architectural rendering and murals. A Pennsylvania State University graduate, Coreen Steinbach works from her studio near Syracuse University, where she obtained an MS degree. Her work is colorful and impressionistic in style, treating a wide range of subjects, including the human figure, still life and landscape. Art Walk Exhibit & Sale:
Artful Objects in Clay, Glass and Fiber
As part of Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk, the Connelly Gallery at 668 Chenango St, Binghamton, NY 13901-2711 will hold a special exhibit and sale of Artful Objects in Clay, Glass and Fiber with Margie Hughto showing objects in clay, Cindy Torelli showing objects in fiber, and Carol Stone showing jewelry in glass.
Margie Hughto, who is a Professor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University, is internationally known for richly textured and colorful ceramic wall reliefs and paintings, and ceramic tile murals, often of architectural scale. She has contributed Dream Baskets, seen below, and other works in clay to the exhibit.
Carol Stone's work focuses on goddess figures, usually in clay, although she also explores glass, fabric, and metal. A member of the Syracuse Ceramic Guild, she has exhibited at the Everson Museum, among other venues. Her Bracelet composed in wire and beads is included in the current exhibit.
Cindy Torelli left public school teaching to open her studio and business in Jamesville, NY, where her original designs reflect her love of horses, animals and nature. Ms. Torelli, who works primarily in wood and clay, often collaborates with Margie Hughto. Boiled Wood and Fiber Purses is one of Ms. Torelli works now at the Connelly Gallery.
The Exhibit opens on Friday, October 7, 2005 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with entertainment by Susan Hurwitz at the keyboard. Hurricane Katrina Relief Event: Giving Gras.
On Sunday, October 16, 2005, the Binghamton Art Musicians (BAM) will sponsor Giving Gras, a town-wide fund-raising event to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims beginning with a procession at 3:00 p.m. The Connelly Gallery will participate by hosting a tasting and sale of local wine to the accompaniment of live Cajun, Zydeco and Jazz music. Admission will be $5.00 at the door or by a Giving Gras ticket. BAM will distribute the proceeds among charitable and relief organizations helping those affected by Katrina. Auction of Broken Bank Notes, Nationals & Coins.
Bob & Sallie Connelly will auction broken bank notes, nationals, coins and stamps at The Showplace
on Saturday, October 15 at 4:00 p.m., with a preview at noon. Included in the auction are paper currency, two unusual 1840s letters written by Underwood, Bald, Spencer & Huffy, bank note

Big On-Site Moving Auction: Two Auctioneers.
Because the owner is moving to Oregon, Bob & Sallie Connelly will auction the contents of the house and outbuildings at 23 N Washington Ave, Oxford, NY 13830-3450
on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with a preview at 9:00 a.m. Two auctioneers, selling simultaneously, will auction a very large quantity of items, including furniture, over 1000 pieces of glassware and china, accessories and stoneware. The Art of Painting by Warren R. Thomas
As part of Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk

will hold a special exhibit, sale and demonstration of The Art of Painting by portraitist Warren R. Thomas on Friday, August 5, 2005 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Thomas will paint a portrait during the Art Walk while guitarist and singer Chuck Mott entertains. 
Mr. Thomas, who has studied with such artists as Douglas Warner Gorsline and Mario Ruben Cooper, is a member of both the The Portrait Society of America and
The Professional Photographers of America, and has recently completed portraits of three SUNY Upstate Medical Deans in his Johnson City studio. Two-day On-Site Estate Auction Including 1796 Home
Bob & Sallie Connelly will hold a two-day auction on-site at 965 Tracy Creek Rd, Vestal, NY 13850, selling household items and collectibles on Friday, August 12, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. preview, antiques and collectibles on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. (9:00 a.m. preview), and the four-bedroom, two-story circa 1796 house on 9 acres on Saturday at noon. The owners, who have two other properties, are downsizing and selling the household contents, antiques, and collectibles without reserve.
Household & Collectibles.
The household items and collectibles selling on Friday include tool and farm items, such as a Rockwell Jointer, three 2 HP gas engines, and a quantity of lumber. Also included, and selling at 7:00 p.m. are 14 guns -- shotguns, rifles, and Civil War Era muskets among them. Also selling Friday are 150 bottles and collectibles such as Kilmer Cures and medicine bottles, license plates, gumball machines and lots of smalls. The antiques and collectibles selling on Saturday include furniture, such as a walnut cylinder roll secretary, tables, dressers, oak rockers and four pine cupboards. Also selling on Saturday are accessories including an 1860 railroad lantern, Aesthetic Movement pickle castor and water pitcher, clocks, a banjo and hummels. Real Estate.
The real estate at 965 Tracy Creek Rd is described in a large separate brochure (PDF: 1144KB). The circa 1796 four-bedroom, two-story house is in very good condition on a 9.1 acre plot which includes a four-car garage, three out-buildings and a 100 ft well. The house has two furnaces, some original pine floors, and aluminum storms and screens. The real estate will be auctioned with no buyer's premium on Saturday by Connelly Realty, beginning at noon. Estate Auction with Military Items, Antiques, 1908 Sears Model G Car.
Bob & Sallie Connelly will auction items mostly from the New Milford, PA Donley-Doyle Estate at The Showplace on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m., with a preview at 8:30 a.m. The Donley and Doyle families were 1799 settlers of Susquehanna County. Included is one of the instruments used by John Doyle to survey the County in the early 1800's.
Also included in the auction are items of furniture, including Empire secretaries
and a railroad ticket cupboard, accessories, including two mahogany grand pianos and a Riley Whiting Winchester Cherry Tall Case Clock, glassware and china, including a Staffordshire Lusterware tea service and Old Parisian porcelain, military items from 1820 through World War II, and guns, including shotguns and pistols.
Featured items: selling at 12:00 noon, a classic 1908 Sears Model G high-wheeler car or motorized buggy with original booklet and top bows; selling at 12:30 p.m. a presentation sword made by made by W. Estate of Melancthon Woolsey Stryker, President of Hamilton College on Friday, April 1, 2005 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with entertainment provided by guitarist Daphne Braden. The son of the Reverend Isaac P. Stryker, Woolsey was educated at Hamilton College (1872) and the Auburn Theological Seminary (1876). He returned to Hamilton College as President (1892-1917) after serving as pastor in churches in New York, Massachusetts, and Illinois. An accomplished artist, he also published several books of hymns. Paintings from the Elihu Root (1845-1937) Estate in Clinton, NY
As part of Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk, the Connelly Gallery at 668 Chenango St, Binghamton, NY 13901-2711
will hold a special exhibit and sale of mixed media paintings from the Elihu Root Estate on Friday, March 4, 2005 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Born in Clinton, NY, Elihu Root (1845-1937) was a lawyer and statesman who served as Secretary of War (1899-1903), Secretary of State (1905-1909) and as Senator from New York (1909-1915). A founder of the American Law Institute and of the U.S. Army College of War, he was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in 1912. His son, Elihu Root, Jr. -- a lawyer, artist and inventor -- lived in the Clinton homestead until his death in 1967. Both men attended Hamilton College. Art Walk Demonstration by Joseph J. Fiacco:
The Art of Cleaning and Restoring Oil Paintings.
As part of Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk, the Connelly Gallery at 668 Chenango St, Binghamton, NY 13901-2711 will host a special demonstration of cleaning and restoring oil paintings by Fine Arts Restorer Joseph J. Fiacco on Friday, February 4, 2005 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Fiacco, who operates the Fine Design Art Studio in Endicott, NY, will provide continuous demonstrations throughout
the evening, including a display of "before and after" examples. He is an experienced artist and teacher who earned his BFA at Alfred University and has appeared on 48 Hours and the CBS Evening News.
Art Walk Exhibit & Sale: 19th Century Theorems Paintings.
As part of Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk, the Connelly Gallery at 668 Chenango St, Binghamton, NY 13901-2711 will hold a special exhibit and sale of theorem paintings on Friday, January 7, 2005 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The exhibit showcases theorems produced between 1830 and 1874 by Rochester, NY horticultural bookseller, D.M. Dewey, who bound individual plates together into sample books used by traveling salesmen to show farmers and gardeners what a nursery had for sale. As you can see in our slideshow, the pictures were idealized versions of fruits and flowers. Dewey's were made with theorem stencils consisting of several layers, all painted in turn, with the final details filled in by hand. See the exhibit handout for additional information (PDF: 39KB). Bob & Sallie Connelly will auction coins, medals and tokens
at The Showplace on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., with a preview at 10:00 a.m. The auction includes a large number of proof and uncirculated coin sets, commerative medals, silver dollars and, as previewed in the slideshow, a variety of paper money.
